Elections for APTIA Council
Nominations will open on 31 July 2018 for the APTIA Council as part of the four-year elections. These elections will be the second election to be held since APTIA’s formation on 2010 as a response to the introduction of the Fair Work (Registered Organisations) Act 2009. The Timetable for the elections which are conducted by the Australian Electoral Office and can be found in this month's edition of Everybody Out.

Members News: TASBus Conference 2018
Executive Director Geoff Lewis once again delivered a successful conference for his Tasmanian bus operator members with the Minister for Infrastructure, the Hon Jeremy Rockliff MP opening the conference and then followed by David O’Byrne MP, the Opposition spokesperson for Transport and Cassey O’Connor MP, the leader of the Greens in Tasmania.

 

Members News: Australian Chamber of Commerce
The Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry has recently held an evening cocktail function at which the Shadow Workplace Relations Minister, the Hon Brendan O’Connor was invited. The Shadow Minister outlined at this meeting the Opposition’s policies for next year’s federal election. Some of the policy positions that were outlined on the night can be found in this month's edition of Everybody Out.

 

Members News: School Bus & Coach Connections Summit
The Bus Industry Confederation has also recently held at the National Convention Centre in Canberra two significant Summits: the National Coach Connections Summit 2018 and the National Travel to Learn and School Bus Summit 2018. Each Summit was extremely well attended and the speakers of the highest quality. In the School Summit delegates heard from Educators, Transport and Education Department officers, Academics and Bus Operators as the issues pertaining to school bus transport were ventilated.

Industry News: Rates of Pay 2018/2019
Following a minimum wage determination by the Fair Work Commission all Award rates have increased by 3.5%. The increases which are set out below apply from the 1st July 2018. Those members who have enterprise agreements linked to the Minimum Wage Determination will also have to increase their rates of pay by 3.5%.
